About Lou
A supportive, encouraging teaching style built around every singer's goals
Lou O’Connor is a vocal coach, performer, and songwriter with over eight years of teaching experience, working with students and artists of all ages and abilities, from young beginners to experienced performers. She holds a BA (Hons) in Commercial Modern Music from BIMM Dublin and recently completed an MA in Voice Studies and Coaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, specialising in vocal anatomy, voice analysis, vocal health, and evidence-based vocal coaching.
Alongside her teaching, Lou is an active recording artist and creative director under her original music project, ROOUE, which has amassed over 800,000 streams on Spotify. Her experience as a working artist gives her valuable insight into live performance, songwriting, recording, artist development, and the modern music industry, allowing her to support her students or artists with both their vocal technique and artistic growth.
“I want students to come away with the technical tools and anatomical understanding to use their voice safely and efficiently, so that technique becomes a foundation for freedom rather than a restriction. Ultimately, I want them to feel confident enough in their instrument to let go, explore, and sing with complete authenticity.”
Foundation Coach
Lou has taught in a variety of settings, including one-to-one coaching in the music industry, music schools, early years music programmes, and community arts projects. She prepares students for graded examinations, auditions, performances, and studio work while helping each singer develop confidence, healthy vocal habits, and their own authentic sound.
Her lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to everyone’s goals, whether they are singing for enjoyment, preparing for exams, or pursuing a career in music. Lou is passionate about creating a positive learning environment where every student or artist feels empowered to explore their voice and reach their full potential.
