Write more. Finish more. Share more
5-Week Songwriting Course, Starts 7th June 2026
For singers and writers who are ready to go deeper into their craft.
You’ve written songs. Maybe a handful, maybe more. You know the feeling of a idea arriving and you know the frustration of watching it stall halfway through. You want to finish more, write better, and stop doing it alone.
This is the course for you.
What is it?
The City Vocal Coach Songwriting Course is a five week intensive for adult songwriters who are serious about their craft. Small group, real feedback, dedicated writing time, and a teacher who has spent his career at the intersection of performance and songwriting.
Led by Sam Marlow who holds a Masters degree in Songwriting, is the Brit School songwriting teacher, ABRSM songwriting grades author and founder of City Vocal Coach. This is not a beginners workshop. It’s a proper creative room for writers who are ready to be challenged and supported in equal measure.
We’ve been running this course for five years. Every cohort leaves with songs they’re proud of and people they want to keep writing with.
Inside the course
What happens each week?
Each Sunday session runs for four hours and is split into three parts.
Part one: The seminar and writing task. Each week focuses on a specific area of songwriting craft. Sam introduces the topic, breaks it down, and sets a writing task for you to explore it in pairs. The tasks will be focused and genuinely fun.
Part two: Your song. You’ll get to have your own space and work on your own material. Sam moves around the building giving individual feedback on whatever you’re developing. This is dedicated, uninterrupted writing time with an expert available whenever you need one.
Part three: The circle. Every student gets the chance to play their song to the group. Sam and your classmates give honest, constructive feedback. This is the part people talk about most. Sharing work is scary and transformative in equal measure.
After five sundays
What you'll walk away with
At least two new finished songs. A notebook full of ideas. Techniques you’ll use for the rest of your writing life. And a group of collaborators you’ll want to keep making music with long after the course ends.

Who is this for?
This course is for you if you’ve already started writing and want to go further. You don’t need to be gigging or recording, you just need to be someone who takes songwriting seriously and is ready to share your work in a supportive room.
It is not for complete beginners. If you’re brand new to songwriting, start with one-to-one lessons and come back to this when you’re ready
