Weekly Songwriter's Workshop

Elevate Your Songwriting with Sam Marlow

Ready to finally finish that song? We’re a supportive, structured club built to help you sharpen your craft, overcome writer’s block, and turn your ideas into finished, high-quality songs.

Our weekly sessions are broken down into three essential parts, ensuring you get both shared focus and concentrated one-to-one attention:

Part 1: The Collaboration Task (80 minutes)

Kick off the session with an energetic group challenge designed to unlock new approaches and perspectives through collaboration.

  • Goal: To push past creative roadblocks, unlock new territory in your writing, and gain fresh inspiration through collaboration.
  • What to Expect: We will focus intensively on a specific songwriting challenge (e.g. write a verse that has an un-balanced meter or incorporate an internal rhyme into every line of your chorus).
  • Outcome: You’ll gain new tools and techniques and learn by observing how others approach songwriting.

Part 2: Solo Writing & One-to-One Consultation (60 minutes)

This is your dedicated hour to work on your material, with the instructor providing personal support as you write.

  • Goal: To guarantee dedicated writing time while providing immediate, personalised tuition to break through creative blocks.
  • What to Expect: You’ll be working on your current project, whether that’s a song you’re developing or an idea you’re sketching out. The instructor will rotate around the room, spending time with everyone to offer individual guidance, answer questions, and provide quick reviews on your progress. Note: This hour is for communal writing and rotating tuition, not 60 minutes of private time.
  • Outcome: You’ll leave with significant progress on your solo work and actionable direction tailored specifically to your song’s needs.

Part 3: The Songwriters’ Circle (Sharing & Feedback)

This is the most supportive and crucial part of the session. We end the week by sharing and learning directly from each other’s work.

  • Goal: To experience the vulnerability of sharing your work and develop your critical ear in a supportive setting.
  • What to Expect: Each member is invited to share a piece of work (new or old). The group then provides constructive, specific, and supportive feedback.
  • Outcome: You gain invaluable outside perspective on your material, and you learn how to better critique your own work.
