Most people think they can't sing. Most people are wrong.
What holds people back isn’t talent. It’s never having had someone show them how their voice actually works. Singing is a skill. Like any skill, it responds to good coaching, consistent practice, and a teacher who listens.
At City Vocal Coach, we’ve taught over 1,000 adults in London. Some came in barely able to hold a note in tune. Others were already performing but felt stuck. What they all had in common: within a few lessons, something shifted. The voice they’d always had started to feel like theirs.
Inside a session
An hour built entirely around you
Every lesson starts with your voice. Where it is that day, what you’re working towards, what’s been on your mind. Your coach will warm you up properly, not just to get you ready but to teach you how your voice functions and why.
From there, we work on the songs you want to sing. Real songs. Not exercises for their own sake, but technique applied to music that means something to you. Whether that’s a West End ballad, a Radiohead deep cut, or something you’ve written yourself.
By the end of a session you’ll have made audible progress. Not in six months. That day.
What we work on: Pitch and tone · Breath control and support · Vocal range · Resonance and power · Performing with confidence · Song interpretation · Your own material
More than lessons
You're joining something, not just booking sessions

EXCELLENT Based on 142 reviews Posted on Roberto R.7 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently took the Open Mic Course with Valentina in November 2025, and let me tell you, it was an absolute game-changer! It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve always been a performer, but I’ve been struggling with stage fright lately. It had become a real burden, and I was afraid to step on stage again. But with Valentina’s guidance, I found the confidence I needed to get back on stage. The course was a great way for me to practice again in a safe environment. And then, the final performance in front of my classmates and a bunch of strangers was the ultimate test. And guess what? It went amazingly well! I was so proud of myself. Now, I can’t wait to do a proper open mic with the friends I’ve made on this journey. It’s going to be so much fun! I’ve also started taking 1-on-1 vocal lessons with Valentina, and she’s been incredible! Within the first few lessons, I could already see a huge improvement in my voice. We’re working on things that were holding me back, and I’m so excited to see where we go. If you’re looking to improve your vocals and performance skills, I highly recommend City Vocal Coach. Valentina is amazing, and she’s made a real difference in my life.Posted on Lieke Jacobs14 November 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’m not exaggerating when I say that working with Polly has changed my life—because it truly has! I started mentoring sessions with Polly just over a year ago. I had recently finished my bachelor's degree in the Netherlands and wanted some guidance on my next steps toward a future in creativity and music. Polly gently encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to explore my songwriting dream. One of the things I value most about her approach is that her encouragement is never just a ‘you’ll be fine, just do it’ push; it is practical and considered, rooted in a realistic assessment of my options and backed by her broad knowledge of the business. This approach helped me build genuine confidence not only in my songwriting but also in the industry itself. I discovered that I wanted to become a songwriter. When the opportunity arose to move to London to explore this path, I dared to take it. I never would have dared to dream of such a thing if it weren’t for Polly's nurturing sessions. I was, and still am, a newbie to it all, a little uncertain of every creative step I take, but I am beyond grateful for where I am now! Polly's guidance—characterized by her genuine kindness, wisdom, and the empathy of a fellow artist—is helping me walk confidently toward my dreams. Thank you so much, Polly!Posted on David Lee2 November 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Sam is a fantastic singing teacher! He really helped me build the confidence to sing again and taught me proper technique in a way that actually made sense. On top of that, lessons were always relaxing and such a good laugh – I genuinely looked forward to them each week. I strongly recommendPosted on Asma Mani24 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t recommend Amy highly enough - she is an absolutely incredible teacher, hugely kind and encouraging and drawing on an immense amount of technical and musical knowledge. I love my lessons with her and learn so much! I feel so lucky to have found her as a teacher.Posted on Daniella Harry10 July 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Valentina has been the vocal coach I prayed for! I began weekly lessons in Nov 2024 with Valentina and in the space of 7 months, I have succeeded in my ability to hit high notes, being able to sustain my vocals (not making them to breathy) and better resonance in my chest and mix vocals. In the space of 4 weeks, I went from not being vocally confident to sing a challenging song like A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke, to performing it live at the City Vocal Showcase and hitting every note effortlessly. Valentina has helped me so much with my vocal ability! She has also helped me finish 2 original songs with her expertise as an artist. Valentina helped me with both writing and music composition such as helping me with a chord progression that I was struggling with. She is such an inspiration and I am so very happy to have found her!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Your coaches
The people you'll work with
Every teacher at City Vocal Coach is a working musician and trained vocal specialist. We don’t take on coaches who aren’t performing themselves, because we believe the best teachers are still students of their craft.
Common questions
Q: Do I need any experience to start?
None at all. Many of our students come to us having never had a lesson in their life, and some haven’t sung since school. We start from wherever you are and build from there.
Q: How often should I have lessons?
Once a week is ideal for steady progress, but we work around busy lives. Fortnightly lessons work well for a lot of our students. What matters most is consistency over time, not frequency.
Q: What happens in a discovery call?
It’s a free 15-minute call with Sam. You’ll tell him what you’re hoping to achieve, she’ll ask a few questions, and between you you’ll work out whether lessons are right for you and which teacher would be the best fit. No hard sell, no commitment.
Q: Can I choose which teacher I work with?
Yes. After your discovery call, Sam will recommend a teacher based on your goals and musical taste, but the final choice is always yours. You can also meet teachers before committing.
Q: What if I need to cancel a lesson?
We ask for 48 hours’ notice for a full refund. Cancellations inside 48 hours are charged in full. This protects your teacher’s time and keeps things fair for everyone.
Q: Do you offer lessons online?
Yes. Online lessons are available via Google Meet for students who can’t make it to Hoxton in person.
Ready when you are.
Whether you want to start with a conversation or go straight to booking your first lesson, both options are right here.
Lessons held at Hoxton Works Studio, 128 Hoxton Street, London N1 6SH. Online lessons available on request.
