About Sam

Real experience as a touring artist, now teaching what he learned

Sam Marlow is a highly regarded vocal and songwriting coach, recognised as one of the UK’s top educators in the field. His journey into vocal coaching was spurred by his own experience as a signed artist, where a demanding touring schedule highlighted the crucial need for robust vocal health and performance technique. That personal understanding of a singer’s challenges led him to build an approach to vocal training that goes beyond warm-ups and technique, into recovery, performance and songwriting too.

“I want students to become active participants in their own learning, not just follow instructions. The goal is always to help you discover your own voice.”

At City Vocal Coach, he has built a supportive community where students develop their technique, build real confidence and connect with other passionate singers, treating curiosity as something to be celebrated and mistakes as part of learning.

What Students Say

From the people Sam has taught

★★★★★

Sam is an amazing teacher, very knowledgeable and really easy to get along with. He's worked with me so I can achieve what I want to do stylistically, and didn't impose a single way of doing things. He's got a great ear and can explain how sound should be produced, simplifying concepts that might seem complex at first. It's been an absolute blast to have lessons with him.

★★★★★

I sing with Sam, who has been an incredible teacher from the start. I was very nervous to sing in front of a stranger, but he is reassuring and makes the lesson a laugh, in between very detailed explanations of the singing anatomy, which greatly helps me focus without nerves. I have noticed massive improvements in my singing ability, and I've discovered a love for music, singing and songwriting that I didn't know I had.
